When her husband was under
attack for his ultra-sleazy behavior in the White House, Hillary Clinton
famously defended him by blaming a “vast right-wing conspiracy.” He had done nothing wrong. It was those malicious Republicans and their
allies who created a scandal out of nothing.
In twenty years of working
as a clinician, one of the things I learned is that people frequently project
their own faults onto others. This was
certainly the case with Hillary. Her
conspiratorial tendencies are of long-standing.
A well-practiced intriguer, she detects plots under nearly every bed.
The reality is that there is
an incredibly large left-wing conspiracy and she is at its core. She, and a dedicated cadre of liberals and
progressives, has schemed to capture the presidency at virtually any cost. This is not news and should have aroused the
indignation of American voters—but has not.
What constitutes a
conspiracy? Merely working with others
to win an election is not sufficient.
Were this true, every political party would constitute a
conspiracy. A combination of three
attributes is necessary. First, people
must consciously collaborate to achieve a shared goal. Second, this must be done in secret. Third, the objective has to be illegal—or at
least immoral.
On all three of these
counts, Hillary and her co-conspirators qualify. Who are these nefarious scoundrels? We can begin with the Clinton family and
their toadies in the Clinton Foundation and Democratic Party. We can add the president and his minions in
the federal government—especially the Department of State, the IRS, and the Department
of Justice.
To this collection of
worthies, we can also attach a host of sympathetic journalists and
editors. Hollywood celebrities and
college professors, in contrast, are mostly just hangers on. They repeat the party line, but are less
central in creating it.
Let us start by assessing the
presence of their conscious collaboration.
No doubt Hillary and her people having been planning an assault on the
presidency for a long time. No doubt as
well is that the vast majority of the third estate have long approved of her
cause. What differs today is their deliberate
collaboration with her campaign.
Bernard Goldberg (among
others), when writing about media bias, attributed this to a common
mindset. Not surprisingly, people who
believe the same things tend to come to the same conclusions. Currently, however, they are doing more than
this. They are unabashedly communicating
with, and defending, the Clinton machine.
Next, this is done in
secret. Thanks to WikiLeaks, we have
learned how much of what goes on behind closed doors contradicts what is said
in public. A great deal of this scheming
must be hidden because were revealed it would horrify ordinary voters.
Third, much of this plotting
is illegal or immoral. Not only did
Hillary’s allies plan to disrupt the Trump campaign; they sought to disguise
her incompetent and illegal conduct. On
the first count, we must remember that the Watergate affair started with an
attempt to undermine McGovern’s campaign.
Electoral tampering is serious business.
On the second count, what
she did with her home-brew server was outrageous. She essentially served up national secrets to
our enemies. Traitors have been shot for
less. They have certainly not been
elected to our highest office.
Hillary has also shown
dreadful judgment regarding Benghazi, Syria, and Russia. Were this made evident, her boasts of years of
experience would be laughable. Nor must
we forget her brilliant performance in designing HillaryCare.
But it is all those lies and
backroom deals that deserve the greatest condemnation. She sold out our country for personal
enrichment! A quarter of a million
dollar speech here and a million dollar birthday present there were enough to
guarantee foreign players preferential treatment.
So here we have it. A two billion dollar war chest seems perched
to steal the presidency. This has paid
for an army of sordid collaborators who have as few qualms about violating the
truth as their mistress. How can any
honest person not be troubled by this utter perversion of democracy?
